Long before he was pope, St. John Paul II (as Karol Wojtyla) was an actor, playwright, and theater-maker. Over the course of his papacy, he went on to develop his masterful Theology of the Body. The heart of an artist is inseparable from this work, and therefore we as a community of and for artists will reflect on this spiritual treasure trove through an artistic lens. We invite you to come away for a day and rest with the Lord, pray and reflect and explore in community, and be in God’s natural beauty on the shores of the stunning Buffalo Lake.

Meet the Instructor, Christina Malloy: Originally from California, Christina specializes in movement in devised theatre and other acting techniques. She has created three shows using devised theatre receiving several awards through the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festivals in Washington D.C., Los Angeles, and Mexico City. Christina first moved to Minnesota to serve in youth ministry and now has been called to focus on combining theatre with the question of “what does it mean to be human?” Creating devised stylized movement pieces and playing on the playground of the stage is her specialty and is a firm believer in the healing power of play. She has taught several classes for Missed the Boat and directed the 2024 production of Catholic Young Adults: The Musical. In 2024 and 2025, she attended courses at the Theology of the Body Institute to receive further formation in integrating TOB into her ministry and artistic practices.
