Have you ever wondered if you could unlock your voice? Whether there are techniques you can use to bring your singing to the next level, and make you feel more confident in your own voice? Join us for this master class style three-week course, in which instructor Samantha Laumann will work individually with each student to refine their techniques, and students also get to learn from each other’s voices as well.
Come with sheet music for a song you've been working on, are rehearsing for a show, something you'd like to use for future auditions, or be prepared to sing something Samantha recommends for your voice!
Meet the Instructor: Samantha Jenee Laumann, soprano is a passionate vocalist, actress, and musical theatre pedagogist who specializes and voice cross-trains in the Twin Cities. Throughout her career she has performed in equity and non-equity theatre houses in Chicago, Boston and NYC. Additionally she has worked as a classical artist with the Chicago Symphony Chorale, The Charlotte Oratorio Singers, and the A.J. Opera Institute in Winston Salem, NC.
Since moving to the Twin Cities in 2015, Samantha has focused her career on teaching and music directing. Samantha serves as Musical Theatre Professor for the University of Minnesota School of Music and Theatre and previously an adjunct professor of Voice University of Northwestern Saint Paul. Her students have gone on to perform the Guthrie Theatre, Theatre Latte Da, Artistry, Broadway National Tours, and Broadway Shows Some Like it Hot, and Schucked.

About the Workshop:
Have you considered auditioning for a musical, but felt unsure of what song to audition with? Or have you walked away from an audition feeling like you didn’t showcase your abilities well? Join us for a workshop, taught by Samantha Laumann, Musical Theatre Professor for the University of Minnesota School of Music and Theatre. She’ll teach you how to pick a selection based on the show and/or character you’re auditioning for and how to prepare for and present your song in an audition. Afterward, she’ll provide personalized feedback on each student’s singing or on their audition selection, to help strengthen their audition material.
Come with a song in mind for an upcoming audition, or with multiple options if you want help choosing!
This workshop is scheduled to help prepare for auditions for our upcoming musical, Moonshot. You are welcome to sign up whether you're auditioning for that particular show or not!

Audition Prep: Monologue Workshop
Hone your acting skills in this free workshop preparing you to audition more professionally and confidently. Artistic director Mary Shaffer will walk participants through the do's and don'ts of a successful acting audition, including how to select and prepare a monologue. After watching a sample audition, participants can opt to bring and perform a 30-60 second monologue for the group, building confidence as they receive affirmation and constructive feedback.
Physical Comedy Performance
In this course, we will use tips & tricks to explore the use of time, space, and physical posturing; hone comedic instincts as an actor; and create a supportive place for people to take physical risks as we share our imaginative silliness and creativity.
