Whether it’s a pie in the face, walking into a solid object, or a house collapsing around you; physical comedy makes people laugh.  In this six-week class, we will explore the world of comedic performance with one of the funniest actors - YOUR BODY! We will use tips & tricks to explore the use of time, space, and physical posturing; hone comedic instincts as an actor; and create a supportive place for people to take physical risks as we share our imaginative silliness and creativity.

Whether you’re looking to improve your acting skills or to feel more confident in your body, this class is sure to connect you to the comedy that is innately and wonderfully YOURS. Leave the room with renewed confidence in your body’s impulses, in your personal humor and in your ability to get laughs by reacting honestly (and fully) to imaginary circumstances.

So come! Be unapologetically a fool with us!

Meet the Instructor, Christina Malloy:

Originally from California, Christina specializes in movement in devised theatre and other acting techniques. She has created three shows using devised theatre receiving several awards through the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festivals in Washington D.C., Los Angeles, and Mexico City. Christina first moved to Minnesota to serve in youth ministry and now has been called to focus on combining theatre with the question of  “what does it mean to be human?” Creating devised stylized movement pieces and playing on the playground of the stage is her specialty and is a firm believer in the healing power of play. She is on the leadership team for Missed the Boat and recently directed the 2024 production of Catholic Young Adults: The Musical.
